David Hamilton was born on June 19th, 1944. He played basketball for three seasons from 1960-1962, scoring 857 points. He won two District Championships in 1960 and 1961.

Hamilton went on to coach Girls Basketball in its first season in 1975, going 10-6. He later coached Boys Basketball for 11 seasons from 1970-1980 with a record of 159-145, winning five District Championships in 1971, 1972, 1974, 1975, and 1979. He is the 2nd winningest coach in Bracken County Basketball history. He began the basketball homecoming tradition in the mid-70’s, and taught at Bracken County Schools for 35 years. Hamilton was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel during the 1973 Basketball banquet.

In honor of his achievements, David Hamilton was inducted into the 10th Region Hall of Fame in 2012, and the Bracken County Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018.
